Your Teacher

Hi, I’m Sam — a professional guitarist and tutor here to help you actually enjoy learning guitar, and prepare you for the stage. I’ve built my career as a full-time musician and recording artist, performing at major festivals such as Isle of Wight, Y Not and Victorious, touring the UK, supporting massive bands and performing live on BBC Radio. Because I’ve spent years on real stages, I know exactly what helps players grow — and what really holds them back. Whether your goal is just to learn your favourite song, or to learn how to play in a band, I can tailor my approach to get you there quickly without a lot of the unnecessary jargon that can end up confusing you (it's rarely as complex as it sounds). As a multi-instrumentalist (Grade 8 Guitar, Singing & Trombone), I bring solid musical knowledge — but more importantly, I bring real-life experience of what it’s like to perform, rehearse, record, write and play in bands in front of thousands of people. I’ll share the tips I wish I’d had when I started.

The Lessons

My lessons are all about helping you:

  • Learn the songs you love — while also building great technique

  • Play with confidence — whether that’s at home, onstage or with friends.

  • Understand music in a simple, practical way — no confusing jargon.

  • Actually enjoy practising — because progress happens fastest when it’s fun.

I teach complete beginners through to advanced players, adults and young people. If you’re nervous, rusty or think you’re “not musical”, I specialise in helping you relax, feel supported and surprise yourself with what you can achieve. If you’d like a tutor who will guide, encourage and inspire you — giving you the insider scoop from actual real-life experience — I’d love to help you on your musical journey.

  • £45 for a 1 hour lesson.

    Lessons are available from my home in Putney, or at a teaching studio in central London. Please note, there is an additional cost of £12 hire fee for the latter option.

  • We will set and adapt goals depending on prior experience, progression, and your own goals.

    Whether you just want to learn your favourite song, or are looking to achieve graded qualifications, we can tailor your experience together.

    I teach the RSL exam board grades for Rock and Pop. I’m also a great jam partner. I truly believe there’s no right way to learn, so whether it’s grades or just jamming out you want, you will progress!
